John Valle played professional baseball for 13 years.
Drafted in the second round of the June draft in 1972 by the
Detroit Tigers, John began his professional career under the
teaching and managing of Jim Leyland. He played 6 years for the
Detroit organization, making the All Star team twice. Along with
Detroit, he played with the Cincinnati Reds and Baltimore Oriole
organizations. Most recently, he played with the Rochester Red
Wings, making the All Star team in 1980 and played alongside Cal
Ripken in 1981. John is currently a Professional Instructor and
Associate Scout for the NY Mets.
Dave Valle is in his ninth season
as a Mariners color analyst in 2005. The former Seattle catcher
spent nine seasons behind the plate for the Mariners and brings
20 years of baseball experience.
Valle played for four teams in his 13-year Major League career,
including the Mariners (1984-93), Boston (1994), Milwaukee
(1994) and Texas (1995-96). He finished with a .237 lifetime
batting average, 77 HR and 350 RBI. In 1990 Valle led American
League catchers with a .997 fielding percentage in 677 total
chances. |
